National Gallery: API
Work has begun to provide a general National Gallery API. Further details and links will be provided here when it is up and running.
Additional Links
- Defining National Gallery RDF: Sampling and Annotation.
- We have experimented with setting up a SPARQL endpoint, using a D2RQ Server, to the database beneath our IIPImage Collection Viewer. This presentation, previously at rdf.ng-london.org.uk:2020 is no longer running, but it functionality should soon be replace with the more general National Gallery API.
National Gallery: Raphael API
The Raphael Research Resource began to examine how complex conservation, scientific and art historical research could be combined in a flexible digital form. In addition to the main user interface the data stored within the system is now also accessible in the the form of open linkable data combined with a SPARQL end-point. Further detail relating to the worked examples along with the code used to build them was presented as part of a workshop at Interface2011.
Presenting web access to RDF Triples
The systems used to present and query the Raphael API and the soon to be National Gallery API make use of a custom National Gallery, London: 4-Store PHP Interface.
Ontologies and Vocabularies
- The CIDOC Conceptual Reference Model (CRM) provides definitions and a formal structure for describing the implicit and explicit concepts and relationships used in cultural heritage documentation.
